About
Closing books in Santa Clara since 2003.
We give growing companies controller-level financial leadership without the cost of hiring it full time. Clean books are the foundation. What you build on them is the point.
Every successful company outgrows simple bookkeeping.
It happens quietly. The books still get produced, but they stop answering the questions leadership is actually asking. Profitability by line. What changed this month and why. Whether the cash position supports the next hire.
At that point the gap is not effort, it is design. Bookkeeping was never built to be an operating system for decision-making. We build the layer above it and put someone senior in charge of it.
What usually brings people in
- Financials that are late or not trusted
- A bookkeeper who cannot carry the complexity
- No clear read on profit or cash flow
- Systems that do not talk to each other
- An audit, lender, or board asking questions
What sets us apart
Controller-level, outsourced
You get the strategic financial leadership a controller or CFO provides, delivered on an outsourced basis. Clean books, planned reporting and dashboards, investor-ready financials, and real visibility into profitability and cash flow.
We only do business accounting
No personal tax practice, no side lines. Specializing exclusively in business accounting is what lets us stay current on the systems and practices that matter and go deep rather than wide.
No commissions, no software bias
We hold no reseller relationships that pay us for recommending one platform over another. When we suggest a tool it is because it fits your operation, and when your current stack is fine we say so.
Complexity, not industry
What determines whether we can help is how complicated your business has become and how fast that is changing, not what sector you are in. We hire and train for that.
How the work actually runs
Capture
Financial data gathered through direct feeds, third-party integrations, receipt processing, and journal entries.
Review
Accounts reconciled, balances verified, recurring items posted, results compared against budget and prior periods.
Analyze
Standard and custom reporting produced, analyses run for tax and audit teams, results reviewed with you, forecasts updated.
Technology, without a preferred vendor
We are QuickBooks Certified ProAdvisors across desktop and online, and we work daily in the wider stack most Bay Area companies already run. Our neutrality is the useful part. Nobody pays us to recommend them.

Who runs the firm
SVAS is owned and operated by three partners. Jack Hau and Taryn Yee are CPAs. Andy Lau is the managing partner and runs the firm day to day.
Client delivery
Engagements are led by Margaret Michel, our Managing Controller, supported by a team of controllers. Margaret brings deep expertise in financial systems, reporting, and strategic guidance, and carries the longest institutional memory in the firm.
Where we are, and where we work
One office in Santa Clara. Clients in a lot more places than that.
The office
5201 Great America Parkway
Suite 360
Santa Clara, CA 95054
In the Techmart building near Great America and the stadium. Free parking in the multistory garage behind Techmart, plus two-hour spaces out front. Clients who want to sit down with their controller in person are welcome, and some do.
Remote by default, national in practice
Almost all of the work happens in shared systems and on scheduled calls, so where you are stopped being the constraint years ago. We serve clients across the country, not only the Bay Area.
That includes the parts that get harder at distance: multi-state payroll and registration, sales tax nexus across states and marketplaces, multi-entity consolidation, and working across time zones without the close slipping.
Also from Silicon Valley Accounting Solutions: outsourced accounting, virtual CFO services, bookkeeping services, and the team.
